• These dungeness crabs inhabit the nearshore coast of Alaska as they were named after one of their habitats - the shallow sandy bay inside of Dungeness Spit on the south shore of the Straits of Juan de Fuca. They're one of the grand fringe benefits of coastal Alaska and is one of the tastiest food served on a dish.
• The crab got it's name "Dungeness" from the Dungeness headland in England. It was given by George Vancouer in 1972.
